Post What local delicacy did you eat your last triathlon race?
Triathletes.
We're doing a bit of research here about various aspects of Ironman races worldwide. What I'd like to know is what your favourite local dishes/delicacies were at IM races that you went to.
What I'm looking for is top nosh that would be typical for the country where the race in question was held (with serious yum factor). A good example of this for me was that fantastic garlic soup in Klagenfurt, Austria, Steak Rossini (with a foie gras on top) in Nice, France, or the Moules & Frites at the upcoming European ITU championships in Braschaat, Belgium.

Shocked

What did you eat??

Thanks,
Suzy

Post Brunswick Stew at Giant Acorn Triathlon in Lake Anna, VA USA
Brunswick Stew at Sprint triathlon in Lake Anna, VA. It was a December triathlon where standing on the shore was colder than swimming in the lake. The lake is warm due to its purpose to cool the local nuclear power plant. The Brunswick Stew was awesome after a cold race!!! The stew may not be a local delicacy but it was definitely a local specialty and favorite! Wink

I want to re-invigorate this discussion... Triathletes travel a lot to events in different countries our states.
We're interested in which local delicacies you have tasted that you normally don't get at home.
This has nothing to do with what you ate during the race, it's about sharing what your favorite local delicacy was.

So, at Ironman Austria we had the local garlic soup, which was fantastic, maybe not for people around us.
At Ironman Germany, we ate a lot of sausages!

At the Long Distance World Chamionships in Lorient, France, I had really fresh oysters from the Atlantic coast. While I normally don't eat oysters, these were so fresh and didn't have that salty sea water taste you get in most restuarants.. They were served with a shallot vineagr dressing -- to die for!

What are your stories?
